There Are Alternate Takes Of That Awesome Deadpool 2 Cameo That Are Fun And Dirty

SPOILER WARNING: The following article contains major spoilers for Deadpool 2. If you have not yet seen the film, please bookmark this page, and save the read until after your screening!David Leitch's Deadpool 2 has a number of fantastic cameos, but certainly ranking towards the top is the appearance of the X-Men. While the titular Merc With The Mouth complains about never seeing any mutants at the X-Mansion, it's shown that Professor X (James McAvoy), Quicksilver (Evan Peters), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit McPhee) and Beast (Nicholas Hoult) are all actively hiding from him. It's a great moment, and one that I actually learned more about earlier today from Peters -- including the fact that there are alternate takes that were not included in the blockbuster:

We were shooting [X-Men: Dark Phoenix], and were like, 'Okay, we're going to do a quick thing for Deadpool 2.' And I was like, 'Oh, that's awesome!' I thought it was going to be at the end of the film, in the credits, like some sort of funny Easter egg thing. And we had a lot of different versions for when they open that door and turn to us. But the one they used was pretty chill, and was in the first half of the film, which I was like, 'Oh, Jesus, that's kind of weird.'Can you tell me what those other versions were?Ummm hmmm... not really sure I can say. There was some fun, dirty stuff.

I had the pleasure of sitting down with Evan Peters earlier today during the Los Angeles press day for his upcoming movie American Animals -- where he was paired with co-star Blake Jenner -- and it was at the end of our chat that I asked about his part in Deadpool 2. I simply asked about the experience filming the quick scene, which I had learned took place on the X-Men: Dark Phoenix set, and in his answer he revealed that some takes were a touch raunchier than others.

As is, the cameo with the X-Men in Deadpool 2 is very quick -- with Beast slowly making his way over to the door so that he can quietly close it without Deadpool seeing them. This makes me wonder: what exactly does the dirty version look like? My best guess would be that all of the mutants could be flipping off Wade Wilson, given the fact that he doesn't exactly show them a ton of respect, but unfortunately I couldn't squeeze any more details out of Evan Peters. Hopefully we'll get to see these alternates when Deadpool 2 hits Blu-ray in a few months.

In the meantime, fans of Evan Peters will next get to see him on the big screen very soon. His new movie, American Animals, is set to arrive in theaters on June 1st -- and is a fantastic based-on-a-true story film about one of the oddest heists of the 21st Century. Be sure to stay tuned here on CinemaBlend for more about the feature, and take a look at our 2018 New Movie Release Calendar for a full look at what's heading to theaters soon!

Evil Deads Bruce Campbell Has Officially Retired As Ash

Evil Deads Bruce Campbell Has Officially Retired As Ash

The horror world experienced a loss a few days ago with the announcement that Ash vs. Evil Dead would not return for another season on Starz. That also raised many questions about the possibility of Bruce Campbell taking Ash Williams back to the big screen for another go-around in the cinematic Evil Dead franchise -- an idea that he has flirted with in recent months. Now, it looks like that is not going to happen, as Campbell has officially confirmed his retirement from the role that introduced him to Hollywood. In response to fan outcry for a Netflix revival of his series, Campbell tweeted:

Despite the fact that many fans want to see Bruce Campbell continue to play Ash Williams on another platform, the actor seems ready to call it a day. His post seems to suggest that he's not particularly interested in fan attempts to revive Ash vs. Evil Dead, and he has other personal and professional pursuits that he is interested in gnow that the show's fourth season on the network is no longer happening.

Bruce Campbell's confirmation that he will not return to the role of Ash Williams actually represents a contradiction to other comments made by the actor when Ash vs. Evil Dead's future seemed in jeopardy. Specifically, he had previously suggested that Evil Dead 3/Army of Darkness 2 could potentially result from the show's cancellation -- though he also walked back those remarks shortly after making them. Now it looks like Campbell is definitely ready to call it a day and move on to other projects. Considering how much pain and suffering Ash has been through since he and his friends first arrived at that cabin, we would say that he has earned a respite.

This ultimately raises questions about the future of the Evil Dead franchise. Bruce Campbell's retirement as Ash does not inherently mean that the series has to end, as fans saw Jane Levy's Mia inherit the film side of the series in 2013 with the release of Fede Alvarez's Evil Dead reboot film. There's currently no word as to whether or not Ash will find a new actor or the franchise will once again take a new direction with a new hero front and center, but there's precedent for telling a story without Campbell in front of the camera.

While Bruce Campbell seems to have hung up his chainsaw and boomstick for good, we will have to wait and see what the legendary, self-proclaimed B-actor will do next. Until we learn more about Campbell's next steps (or the future of the Evil Dead franchise as a whole), you can head over to our movie premiere guide to see what films are going to hit the big screen in 2018!
