The Sticky Way Dakota Johnson's Modesty Thong Was Attached For Fifty Shades Freed

The Sticky Way Dakota Johnson's Modesty Thong Was Attached For Fifty Shades Freed

The Fifty Shades film series has never been afraid to show more than a little skin, but that doesn't mean there aren't some things the actors have been able to keep to themselves, though sometimes that's taken some work. Dakota Johnson says that in order to keep the parts of her that were not for public view covered, she wore a sort of thong around her waist, though it required some extra strong adhesive because it kept coming off during filming. According to Johnson...

Oh yeah, Jamie's little pouch. It's super not glamorous---it's really unsexy. He wore that, and I had these sort of strapless thongs that had glue on them. It's not glue, but it's sticky. They're, like, basically if it were a nipple pastie, but underwear. But it's only sticky at the top, it's not sticky the whole way. It would also come off because the adhesive would wear out, so then they would superglue it to my body so that it wouldn't fall off. And I would wear two of them. It's not painful, I mean, it's barely anything. But I guess you have some sense of being covered. It's fucking bizarre.

Sex on screen, in general, can probably be referred to as "fucking bizarre," as Dakota Johnson puts it to Marie Claire. You're involved in one of the most intimate acts imaginable, or you're pretending to be, while a bunch of crew people stand around watching, and filming, the entire experience. Wanting at least the bare minimum (puns), of covering so you don't feel completely naked is understandable.

The fact that the adhesive on the pastie would wear out seems like a fairly significant design flaw. It's understandable that the person wearing it might get sweaty, but what else is the thing actually designed to do? Shouldn't it be built specifically to withstand that? If you need to superglue anything to your body, there's clearly something going wrong.

Dakota Johnson's co-star Jamie Dornan had a similar device around him to keep everything covered. Johnson said it was quite unsexy, and considering it's likely the same could be said about her, it sort of defeats the entire point of the Fifty Shades movies when you discover that making them wasn't nearly as exciting as it appeared.

While it's clear that filming the Fifty Shades of Grey series was a struggle in many ways, Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan can breathe a sigh of relief now that the ordeal is over. The trilogy of books has now become a trilogy of films, and it seems unlikely that there will be more of them, and even more unlikely that the two leads would return even if there was interest in another. Hopefully, this means the pair can go back to wearing regular clothes in front of the camera and do without the superglue.

But there hasn't been any news, footage, or images in the recent past, so fans have no idea how The New Mutants is faring. If the movie fails to find its tone and deliver with test audiences, perhaps it could end up pivoting to a streaming service like Hulu or Netflix.

Captain Marvels Annette Bening Isnt Sure What Shes Allowed To Say About The Movie

Captain Marvels Annette Bening Isnt Sure What Shes Allowed To Say About The Movie

Over the past decade or so of filmmaking, the superhero genre has quickly become the most dominating force in filmmaking. With three shared universes currently battling for box office supremacy, it seems like just about everyone is getting in on a comic book adaptation. This includes even the great Anette Bening, who will make her genre debut with Marvel's upcoming blockbuster Captain Marvel. The penultimate movie in the shared universe's Phase Three, the highly anticipated movie will bring Brie Larson's Carol Danvers into the narrative, as well as a cast of new supporting characters. Unfortunately, Bening's role is a complete mystery. In fact, she's not even sure what she's allowed to talk about.

No, in fact, I need to call them again and they have to tell me exactly what it is that I can't say. All I can tell you is that it is as much fun as you would imagine it could be. At least it was for me. It was so much fun, and I can't tell you why because then it would give something away. It was like when you're a little kid and you imagine what it would be like to be in a superhero movie, that's what it was like. Seriously. It was fun.

Well, this is certainly intriguing. While Anette Bening is unable to break new news about her role in Captain Marvel, she seems to have had the full comic book movie experience-- which will only increase speculation and theorizing.

Anette Bening's Marvel-ous comments, which come from her recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, are sure to excite the rabid Marvel fanbase-- as well as cinephiles who have followed the actress' long career. Not everyone involved in Marvel movies gets to do the fun stuff, as there are plenty of supporting characters who don't get involved in the big action sequences. Bening seems to hint that she's involved in major conflicts, but who could she be playing?

The most common theory about Anette Bening's Captain Marvel role is that she may be Carol Danver's mother. This seems logical, as the film's first trailer revealed how much of the blockbuster will be focused on Carol's life and psyche. As she attempts to remember her life on Earth before gaining massive powers and joining Starforce, there will be scenes harkening all the way back to the character's childhood. Parents have always played a major role in the MCU, and getting Anette Benning to play Brie Larson's mother sounds like a major win.

Then again, it would be awesome if directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck surprises audiences, and give Anette Bening an action-heavy role. She's among just a few actors with undisclosed roles, so perhaps Marvel has big plans for her secret appearance. The MCU loves plot twists and secrets, so there's really no telling how it'll all go down.

Everything will be revealed when Captain Marvel arrives in theaters on March 8, 2019. In the meantime, check out our 2018 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.
