Jungle Cruise Has Wrapped Production, Heres How Dwayne Johnson And Emily Blunt Celebrated
Following in the footsteps of movies like Pirates of the Caribbean and The Haunted Mansion, and nearly 65 years after it was unveiled in Disneyland's opening, Jungle Cruise is the next Disney attraction that's getting the theatrical treatment. Starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Emily Blunt, the Jungle Cruise movie finally began rolling cameras in Hawaii back in May after more than a decade in development hell, and today marked the end of principal photography. To celebrate the milestone, Johnson and Blunt got back on camera not to toot their own horn (much), but to instead highlight the movie's crew.
Making a movie is a team effort, and while the actors are the ones who get the most attention, it's the people behind the scenes that are responsible for the whole thing coming together. Now that the four months of shooting is over, Jungle Cruise is entering its long post-production phase, but Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt wisely took the time to express their express their gratitude for all the work the crew (and one dog) put into making Jungle Cruise a reality, with Johnson adding that the finished product is for the man who started it all, Walt Disney. The Disney video capped off with everyone tossing their sailor caps into the air. Well, except Blunt, who was rocking a different kind of headwear.
Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt previously got together to show off the Jungle Cruise set at the end of July, and while today's video presumably marks the last recording straight from said set, fingers crossed that Johnson recorded his own material to post on his social media pages. Now with filming is over, the wait begins to get our first official Jungle Cruise images, and since the movie doesn't come out for over a year, I suspect the first trailer won't arrive until sometime in the spring or early summer.
Set in the 1930s, Jungle Cruise follows Dwayne Johnson's Captain Frank taking Emily Blunt's Lily Houghton and her brother, played by Jack Whitehall, into a mysterious jungle to find a tree said to have healing properties. Naturally, though, the adventure is anything but uneventful, because along with the group having to avoid natural threats lurking within the jungle, like dangerous wild animals, they'll also be trailed by a competing German expedition. The supporting cast also includes Edgar Ramirez, Jesse Plemons, Paul Giamatti, Andy Nyman, Quim Gutierrez, Veronica Falcon and Dani Rovira.
